With a little help from your friends: FoodStock hits Lancaster

Thanks to today’s festival and carnival circuit, food and music go together now like… well, peanut butter and jelly, or music and various other substances in decades gone by. This Saturday at Marion Court Room, though, FoodStock is putting a new twist on that tried-and-true tunes-and-vittles combination.

The doors open at 2 p.m. on a day full of performances by artists who are coming together for a great cause: stopping hunger and food insecurity in Central PA. FoodStock focuses on supporting local food banks, thereby directly investing in the community and making sure the resources they raise go to helping people right in Lancaster County and the surrounding area. What makes it uber-cool is that they do this by holding fundraising events with local musicians… which brings us, quite neatly, to FoodStock Music Fest.

This Saturday, local artists will be jamming at Marion Court Room from 2:30 til well into the evening. There’ll be a full menu available, as well as a cash bar to sate your Saturday-night thirsts, and the proceeds will go to local food banks dedicated to helping folks in Lancaster and the surrounding areas. The lineup’s pretty swell, too; it’s a rock-flavored blend of bands, including folks like Back in Motion, the Real Gone Trio with Tony Torres, and Overload Junction (the full lineup’s here.) Check it:

Enough to get the ol’ foot tapping, no?

If helping to take down hunger and supporting local bands and access to a cash bar all at one time sounds like a great way to spend a Saturday night, then get hopping. Tickets are $10 online and $15 at the door.
