Where to celebrate Cinco de Mayo in Central PA

Everyone’s favorite south of the border version of St. Patrick’s Day is back with dozens of Cinco de Mayo events today. Bars across the county feature events to honor the defeat of the French at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862 (not Mexican Independence Day, which is actually September 16). Here’s a selection of parties and food and drink specials to make you say “muy bueno.”


Austin Ray Bar & Grill in Lancaster features $3 Dos Equis drafts, $4 Jose Cuervo shots and $5 margaritas all day. Babbo’s in Mount Joy offers $3 bottles of Corona and $3 pints of Negra Modelo all day. Beanie’s in Mount Joy features a Cinco de Mayo celebration with $3.50 Dos Equis pints and $10.50 buckets of Corona, Dos Equis and Negra Modelo bottles all day. Carlos & Charlie’s in Lancaster hosts a Cinco de Mayo party with drink specials and giveaways all day. Traditional and fruit margaritas are half price, and a special food menu includes a smoked brisket cubano, cheesesteak empanadas, pancho shrimp po’ boy and more. Tequila Avión and Olmeca Tequila are also featured. Checkers in Lancaster features several different rare tequilas all day. The Deck at Dutchmaid in Ephrata hosts a Cinco de Mayo party with $2.50 bottles of Corona and Corona Light and specials on taco wraps and taco salads all day. El Rodeo in Lancaster features its Cinco de Mayo celebration with specials on Coronitas, margaritas and food and a party with giveaways and free appetizers all day. El Serrano in Lancaster hosts its Cinco de Mayo party with live music by Los Monstros in the courtyard today from 8 p.m.-12 a.m. Hurricane Pizza in Columbia celebrates Cinco de Mayo with drink specials, including margaritas and Coronas for $6 and food specials like $1 tacos all day. Reflections in Leola offers a $3 Corona and Corona Light bottle special all day. Shank’s Tavern in Marietta features a party with $4 pints of Negra Modelo all day. Justin Angelo hosts an acoustic open mic at 7:30 p.m. Union Station in Columbia features $3 Corona bottles all day.


Arooga’s 94 in Hanover features $5 Aroogaritas all day. Bay City in Hanover offers specials on Corona, Corona Light and LandShark bottles, along with margaritas and free chips and salsa throughout the day. El Rodeo locations in York and Hanover feature a Cinco de Mayo celebration with specials on Coronitas, margaritas and food all day. Fiesta Mexico in York features food and drink specials, including $2.99 lime margaritas on the rocks, $7.50 buckets of Coronita bottles and $1.25 hard-shell chicken and beef tacos all day. Giveaways and raffles are also featured. Guadalajara Restaurant in York hosts a Cinco de Mayo celebration with live music and drink specials that include any bottle of Mexican beer for $2.99, shots of tequila for $4.99, 14-ounce margaritas for $1.99 and $2.99 Dos Equis keep-the-glass drafts all day. The Waterway in York hosts a Cinco de Mayo party with food and drink specials starting at 3 p.m. and live music by The Substance, Close to Consideration and See You Next Friday.


Arooga’s locations around Harrisburg offer $5 Aroogaritas all day. Bourbon Street Saloon in Harrisburg dishes out free margaritas from 10-11p.m., and $200 is up for grabs for a chili pepper eating contest. Colonial Lounge in Harrisburg celebrates both Cinco de Mayo and its fifth anniversary with a party on its deck featuring Oculto (a citrus-flavored lager aged in tequila staves) tasting and specials on Tito’s Vodka and tacos all day. El Rodeo locations around Harrisburg feature specials like 99¢ burritos and tacos, $1.99 Coors Light and Yuengling Lager drafts and $3.99 margaritas all day. El Sol in Harrisburg offers a holiday food menu and drink specials like $6 24-ounce cans of Corona and $15 personal pitchers of el Jimador tequila all day. Fiesta Mexico in Harrisburg features food and drink specials, including five street tacos for $9.99 and $12 buckets of Sol, Dos Equis and Tecate all day. Level 2 in Harrisburg hosts a Cinco de Mayo party with live music by Grupo Exito, a dance contest, a photo booth and more beginning at 8 p.m. Proceeds benefit the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Central PA. The Roadhouse Cafe in Harrisburg offers $9 Coronita fishbowl margaritas all day. Sierra Madre Saloon in Camp Hill features a full day of Cinco de Mayo activities, including music and giveaways, and beer tastings of Negra Modelo, Pacifico Clara, Victoria and more. Drink specials include $3 drafts of Modelo Especial all day.
