Yeah, it’s snowing at the moment. But it’s the FIRST DAY OF SPRING for cryin’ out loud. How about you get out and let the crisp Spring air fill your lungs. Live a little, eh? Here’s what’s on deck for tonight:
Wine & Oyster Tasting at Bricco (Harrisburg)
Unwind after the long workweek in style at the Table at Bricco’s Wine & Oyster tasting. Allyson Boulianne from Capital Wine and Spirits and Doug Aliff from John Gross host an intimate tasting featuring an exquisite menu of shellfish and wine. The cost is $75 per person and you can make reservations here.
Hardywood Park Tap Takeover at Isaac’s Pickle Bar (Lancaster)
Richmond, Va.-based craft brewery Hardywood Park takes the spotlight on the taps at Isaac’s Pickle Bar during happy hour. Although it’s new to the area, Hardywood Park has respected down south for its innovative and award-winning brews like its 2014 GABF gold medal-winning Raspberry Stout. Stop by Isaac’s from 5-7 p.m. to have a taste.
Margo Price and the Price Tags at Burning Bridge Tavern (Wrightsville)
Nashville’s Margo Price is a throwback to old school country singers like Tammy Wynette and Loretta Lynn. Her backing band, the Price Tags, add an authentic “golden era” country sound to Price’s voice, which dovetails perfectly with the lonesome tone of a pedal steel guitar. In her latest single “Since You Put Me Down,” Price is “drinking just to drown” and “waltzing with my sin” in other words her songs are what true country music is all about: heartbreak and mending that heartbreak with tequila. Price takes the stage at the Burning Bridge Tavern in Wrightsville at 8 p.m. This is a free show. Don’t miss it.
The Jellybricks with Julian Fist at HMAC (Harrisburg)
Veteran Central PA rockers The Jellybricks take the stage at HMAC tonight. E-Street band member Little Steven chose the group’s song “About the Weekend” for one of the weekly “Coolest Song in the World” segments on his radio show Little Steven’s Underground Garage in 2014. That’s enough street cred for us. The show starts at 9 p.m. Julian Fist opens. Tickets are $5. Info here.
Third in the Burg (Harrisburg)
This first-day-of-spring snow isn’t going to stop us from celebrating Third in the Burg – Harrisburg’s monthly citywide celebration of arts and culture. Some highlights from tonight include an evening of art, music and comedy at The Midtown Scholar starting with a reception for “Literatur Trash Polka” (a new art exhibit at the Yellow Wall Gallery) at 6 p.m., singer/songwriter Kites in Flight performing electro-pop songs on the Main Stage at 7 p.m. and the TMI Improv Comedy Group on Stage Two at 8 p.m. In the mood for a movie? Midtown Cinema features its Third in the Burg $3 Movie at 9:30. Tonight’s film is 1985’s Clue – the best movie based on a murder mystery board game – starring Tim Curry.
Also playing: Ballyhoo! (The Depot); Lavacave (Lancaster Dispensing Company); The Reagan Years (Chameleon Club); Shotgun Ragtime Band (Holy Hound Taproom); The Stonewall Vessels (Fulton Street Cooperative)
