This weekend: Scotch tasting, beer sampling, cancer beating, wine tasting ... and socks.

We don’t know ’bout you, but those last few days of rain were downright depressing. Fall is a season of adventure, after all. It’s a time to get outdoors and see nature in its most vulnerable state – exploding in color, changing in temperament, recalibrating.

Fortunately, the Google search we just did for “weather” tells us that the weekend is bringing along with it some reprieve from all that rain. And the glance outside our window that we just took tells us it’s already happening.

So get out there this weekend, eh? And if you’re not sure where to go, we’ve wrangled up a few options from our entertainment calendars for your consideration…

The Macallan Scotch tasting dinner

Bricco in Harrisburg has been offering some killer wine/beer/spirits pairing dinners as of late, and tonight’s dinner featuring four The Macallan Scotches with a combined age of 62 and a Cutty Sark blend – each paired with some mouth-watering grub – is a must attend.

Beer samplings in Lancaster

Do you craft beer? Of course you do. Everybody does these days, and for good reason. Craft breweries are going above and beyond to create some unique taste combinations that would confuse the heck out of your Genesee-drinking grandpa. Tonight, Friendly Greek Bottle Shop hosts a Goose Island vintage sampling from 6-8pm featuring samples of Goose Island’s Matilda, Ogden, Muddy and Sofie. Also in downtown Lancaster, Isaac’s Pickle Bar features a tap takeover spotlighting Great Lakes Brewing Co. starting at 5pm.

Breast Cancer benefit concert

New Grounds Roasting Company in York hosts a benefit concert tonight, with proceeds going to the Wellspan Applehill Breast Cancer Patient Help Fund. New Grounds has doing great things giving developing artists a spot to get their music out to the world – coupling that with a good cause makes this a no-brainer for live music fans. The bill features High Grade, The Ok-Ok’s, The Infidels, Sabrina Duke and Elijah Cross. The event starts at 6pm.

Method Man & Redman

If you weren’t a Wu-Tang Clan fan growing up, maybe you’ve at least seen this red-eyed rapping duo in their Hollywood debut, How High? OK, maybe you missed that, too. But still, these OG’s in the rap game are a sure bet for an entertaining night. Catch Method Man, Redman and Cypress Hill’s B-Real tonight at the Chameleon Club in Lancaster. (And yes, all that smoke in the room is the fog machine.)

Happy Birthday, Liquid Hero

Downtown York’s craft brewery Liquid Hero turns 3 years old tomorrow, and they’re throwing a parking lot party to celebrate. The action goes from 2-10pm, featuring live music from Gettysburg psych-folk-rock outfit BlackHand, food trucks from El Taco Camino and Souvlaki Boys and, of course, some Liquid Hero brews.

Vino in the Ville

It’s looking to be a beautiful day for some wine sipping tomorrow. The Marysville Lions Club presents the Marysville Wine Festival: Vino in the Ville from 12-6pm, offering a smattering of regional wines for the sampling, live music for the listening to and a nice view of the Susquehanna for the taking in.

Oyster Festival

Spring House Brewing Co. holds its annual Oyster Festival at its Taproom in downtown Lancaster tomorrow. The action starts at noon and features oyster stew, raw oysters, steamed oysters, fried oysters – all of which can-and-should-be washed down with Spring House’s Oyster Stout.

Sock Puppet Parody

The Creative Works of Lancaster presents another in its steadily growing drawer of sock theater on Sunday at Lancaster’s 551 West. Next up: The Silence of the Socks. This comedic take on the The Silence of the Lambs features a cast of sock-clad hand puppets and a whole world of sock-related puns you never knew were even possible. Shows take place at 4, 6 and 8pm.
