FIFTY SHADES OF GREY

Release date: February 13
Director: Sam Taylor-Johnson
Cast: Dakota Johnson, Jamie Dornan, Eloise Mumford, Luke Grimes
Website: fiftyshadesmovie.com

Yes, it’s time for the big-screen adaptation of that sex book your mom has been uncomfortably talking about with strangers on the train for the last four years. Fifty Shades of Grey, which famously and hilariously began as Twilight fan fiction by author E.L. James, is the story of a shy literature student named Anastasia Steele (Johnson) who falls for a controlling and enigmatic millionaire named Christian Grey (Dornan). As their romance heats up, Grey introduces Ana to his parents… I mean, his sex dungeon. He introduces her to his sex dungeon. The end.

KINGSMAN: THE SECRET SERVICE

Release date: February 13
Director: Matthew Vaughn
Cast: Colin Firth, Samuel L. Jackson, Mark Strong, Michael Caine
Website: kingsmanmovie.com

When it comes to adapting comic books and graphic novels, few filmmakers are doing it better than Matthew Vaughn, who made Chloe Grace Moretz a star with Kick-Ass and saved the X-Men franchise with First Class. Based on the Dave Gibbons and Mark Millar comic book series, Kingsman stars Colin Firth as veteran British secret agent Harry Hart, who is tasked with recruiting a new generation of spies. Among his trainees is Gary (Egerton), a young man with a troubled past who just might have what it takes to be a hero.

David Onda is Fly Magazine's movie guy. He is an entertainment writer for a national outlet. He's attended and covered the Academy Awards on several (well, 3) occasions for a national outlet. He once made Quentin Tarantino laugh. He has shared an elevator with Bruce Willis, sat in John Waters' living room and has flown in the same airplane as Joan Rivers.
