Three picks for what to do in Central PA on Wednesday, August 12.
1) Weedeater with Kings Destroy and Wrath of Typhon at the Depot (York)
Yes, they’re exactly what you think they are. Self-described “stoner metal” band Weedeater blazed a new path for their genre in 2001 with their first release “And Justice For Y’all.” Since then, they’ve lit up stages across the nation with wild live performances. Their newest release, Goliathan, brings the heat with heavy drum riffs and hard vocals. Tonight at 8 p.m., they’ll be torching the stage with Kings Destroy and Wrath of Typhon at the Depot. Tickets are $18.
2) OMG Music Fest at the Chameleon Club (Lancaster)
What do X Factor contestant Reed Deming, singer-songwriter Gavin Becker (who’s opened for Icona Pop), and pop singing sensation Jonah Marais all have in common? They’re all going to be at the OMG Music Fest tonight at 6:30 p.m. Tickets range from $25-$77. If you’ve never heard of these people, your favorite teacup humans probably have – take ’em along as a back-to-school treat.
3) Cox Brewing Company New Brew Tapping (Elizabethtown)
Of late, Central PA is overflowing with awesome options for the discerning beerhounds among us. Tonight, you’ll have yet another option to slake your thirst. From 5-8 p.m. this evening, Cox Brewing Company is tapping a new seasonal brew – their F-117 Stout, the “little brother” of their SR-71. (Recognize a theme in the beer names? CBC is a veteran-owned brewery. Now, that’s something to pour to.) If you can’t make it tonight, stop by Friday from 5-8 p.m. or Saturday from 12-3 p.m.
Want more? You don’t have to wait ’til 3 p.m. to check out FLY’s live music, bar entertainment and performing arts calendars.
