Three picks for what to do in Central PA on Wednesday, August 19.
1) Big Ups with Washer and Concrete Beach at the MakeSpace (Harrisburg)
There’s nothing like a little punk rawk to shove you over the midweek hump. Tonight at 8 p.m., the MakeSpace is hosting a shindig to remember. For a paltry fee of $8, you, too, can fight The Man and earn street cred (as well as, you know, enjoy yourself.) Big-deal punksters Big Ups are headlining; Washer and Concrete Beach will be backing ’em up. Check it out:
2) Bowl Your Brains Out at Suburban Bowlerama (York)
Who hasn’t wanted to bowl a couple of rounds over a bowl of that species of nachos with technicolor cheese specifically native to bowling alleys and movie theaters? Who doesn’t want to do it for hella cheap? Notice to denizens of the world: You’re in luck. Tonight at Suburban Bowlerama from 8:30-11 p.m., $4.99 gets you bowling (shoe rental is $1.89). There are several food deals as well; pizza’s $1.29 a slice and nachos are $3.49 with cheese and salsa. Now, that’s bowlerama.
3) V is for Vogan… Celebrating the Life and Wild Times of Steller at Tellus360 (Lancaster)
Tonight at 6 p.m., the second floor of Tellus360 will host a celebration of life in honor and remembrance of Steller (Matthew Steller, alias Vogan Gabor, known far and wide for his many years dispensing piping hot coffee and sarcasm at the Mean Cup stand in Central Market). Grab a drink and share your favorite stories and memories of Steller. This event’s open to all – anyone who was impacted by Steller is welcome.
