One time, my stepdad invited his bratty niece to accompany my family on vacation to South Carolina. She sang “All Star” by Smash Mouth and other various songs from the Shrek soundtrack, in the car for nearly 11 hours straight. That, my friends, was the longest ride. This movie, based on the novel by recently-separated-from-his-wife love guru Nicholas Sparks, is the story of a country bumpkin bull rider (Eastwood) and an artist with big city aspirations (Robertson) who fall in love against all odds. When their romance hits a snag, the couple is inspired by an old man (Alda) and his own tale of romance.

David Onda is Fly Magazine's movie guy. He is an entertainment writer for a national outlet. He's attended and covered the Academy Awards on several (well, 3) occasions for a national outlet. He once made Quentin Tarantino laugh. He has shared an elevator with Bruce Willis, sat in John Waters' living room and has flown in the same airplane as Joan Rivers.
