When you were a kid, you probably had a pretty good handle on what you thought the future might look like. Maybe flying cars, hoverboards or space food was what you had in mind, but I’ve always been fascinated by inroads made with shoes. We wear them everyday, but outside of the self-tying shoe Marty McFly made famous, there’s yet to be anything particularly crazy to happen with technology and sneakers. Until today!
Converse announced earlier today that they are in the prototype stages for a new version of the classic high-top sneaker that comes with a built-in wah-wah pedal. Dubbed the “Chet Atkins All Wah,” named after the famous guitarist who first made use of the wah pedal, the shoe works exactly how you think it does. Just plug in and go. The wah-nder shoe was developed in conjunction with CuteCircuit, makers of both the Hug Shirt and the Twitter dress. There’s no real place for commentary here, so just watch the video of the engineers explaining their creation and marvel at their ingenuity.
