Take the old man down to Old Town

What’s the first thing that comes to mind when you think of Father’s Day? A garden tour, right? No? Well, maybe you should start thinking about it. The Neighborhoods of Old Town in Lancaster hosts Beyond the Garden Gate: A Glimpse into City Living from 12-5 p.m. on June 19.

Take Dad on a tour of 14 homes and gardens in a hidden gem of downtown Lancaster – the historic Old Town neighborhood. Homes range from more than 150 years old to 30 years old, but each has a beautiful garden. An art show takes place at the John Hoff building. After touring the gardens with Pop, tour some local bars and restaurants. Buy him a beer and then something to eat at Annie Bailey’s, Tellus360 or DiCarlo’s. Each restaurant offers 20 percent off all food purchases when you show your ticket.

“We love the city,” says Denise Mancinelli, one of the organizers of the event, “and we want to showcase it. There is a whole lot more going on than what you see when you drive through it.”

Tickets are $10 and can be purchased in front of the Stevens & Lee building on the corner of East Vine and South Duke. Proceeds benefit the public spaces in the Old Town neighborhood.

Wanna keep those #Dadvibez going? Get tickets to Everclear at the Vineyard at Hershey on August 27. You guys can sip some merlot and rock out to “Father of Mine.”
