Sunday A.M. Radio: Jamie xx

It’s that time of the year when everyone is making their “best albums of the year” lists. We’re working on ours too (with some of our favorite local albums of 2015 in the mix). Feel free to leave your “Best of 2015” picks in the comments section.

One album that’s cracking the top 10 on nearly every list that I’ve seen is Jamie xx’s In Colour. At this point, I’m thinking I’m probably the only one who has gone this long without checking this album out. In Colour definitely belongs at the top of any “Best of 2015” list. It ranges from all-out dance floor bangers to sublime downtempo ballads.

Let’s wake up from our dreams with Jamie xx’s steel drum-laced track “Obvs” from In Colour. Did you know that roughly 80% of people dream in color? But, according to some studies, older generations that grew up with black and white TVs typically report a higher percentage of black and white dreams. Some researchers suggest it’s because their attention was heightened while watching TV and the black and white tones left an imprint on their subconscious minds. Just another way that technology can change our minds and body chemistry.

What are some of your favorite records of 2015? Let us know in the comments section and check back to see if they made our list.
