Remember the good ol’ days, when Snapchat was used by teens to send nudes that disappeared forever after five seconds?
Now your mom uses it, and you wouldn’t be caught dead sending an unsavory pic for fear of someone taking a screenshot. The internet, amiright?
To further its evolution as an app for everyone, CEO Evan Spiegel announced that Snapchat is being rebranded as Snap Inc., and is releasing a fun “toy” called Spectacles to be worn for fun at family events or other public forms of entertainment.
They’re like glasses, and connect via Bluetooth to your smartphone to take video, just like the app does. Spiegel says he likes the idea of freeing the app from the smartphone.
The glasses will be available later in the fall at the surprisingly affordable-yet-not-totally-affordable price of $130.
