Every month, the Fly staff chooses four concerts that we think are worth making the trip out of Central PA to see. This month, we have Luna, Sun Kil Moon, Disclosure and Vintage Trouble. First up, Fly’s Content Editor, Jed Reinert tells you why you need to come up with an excuse to leave work early today and make the trip to the Trocadero in Philadelphia to see Luna.
I’ll always have a soft spot for anything Dean Wareham’s involved with. Galaxie 500’s gauzy, blues-inflected dreamscapes were the soundtrack to many a late night in my college days, and Luna’s gauzy, blues-inflected pop songs were the soundtrack to many a road trip in my post-college days. Wareham manages to write songs that are both wistful and comforting, somehow, and his guitar playing is masterful in its understated simplicity. I saw both of his bands back in the ‘90s, and was blown away each time. Now, with a Luna reunion tour making the rounds, it just might be time to see Wareham again.
