'Red Dead Redemption 2' coming in fall 2017

Dust off your revolvers and take the horses out of the stable, we’re going back to Blackwater in 2017.

Rockstar has been sitting on the laurels of “Grand Theft Auto V” since 2013, so rumblings of a new game have been forthcoming for some time. The hype machine ramped up in a big way a few days ago, when Rockstar’s Twitter account tweeted their own logo set against the backdrop of a familiar blood red color scheme. Even for something so simple, the picture was retweeted thousands of times.

Today, they released the real image of a team of cowboys walking against the backdrop of a sunset, letting fans know that this is really happening. For the uninitiated, the world of Red Dead started all the way back in 2004 with the release of “Red Dead Revolver.” It was a great game, but things were brought to another level six years later with the release of “Red Dead Redemption.”

Taking the open-world immersion back to the Old West, “Red Dead Redemption” is rightly still one of the most beloved games of the last generation of consoles. Now, another six years later, we’re getting a sequel. Mum’s the word as far as the storyline is concerned, as those who played through the last game know certain things about how different main characters ended up. A trailer will be released on Thursday
