Rage Against the Machine+Public Enemy=Tour?

Let’s pump our brakes before we begin speeding on the hype train: as of this writing, nothing is official. THAT BEING SAID, Rage Against the Machine are up to something. The beloved political rock band hasn’t released new music since 2000 and haven’t played together since 2011. However, the band recently launched a new website, ProphetsofRage.com, which at this time is overloaded presumably from overhyped fanboys reloading the page again and again. Before the website exceeded its resource limit, it showed only a countdown clock scheduled to reach its end on June 1.

Deepening the mystery further, “Prophets of Rage” is a well-known Public Enemy song and yesterday Chuck D tweeted out two live performances of DUM DUM DUUUUM Rage Against the Machine songs! The plot thickens, as it were. Of course, this could all mean nothing. Maybe Rage is announcing remastered versions of their beloved studio albums. Maybe Chuck D is just shouting out his old pals. But maybe, just maybe, the two most brazenly political acts of the last 25 years were inspired by the actions of a certain Presidential candidate (or candidates) and decided it was time to get back in the game in some way. Either way, we’ll keep you posted.

Kevin Stairiker is a features writer for Fly. He is a graduate of Temple University and enjoys writing in third person. When he isn't writing, he's probably playing guitar for a litany of bands, reading comics or providing well-needed muscle at The Double Deuce.
