You know summer’s coming to a close when cider events start crowding up the calendar. There’s something about the first dip on the thermometer and a hint of leaves turning that just makes you want to start drinking everything harvest-y, especially if it’s alcoholic. (Pumpkin ale, anyone?) This weekend, not one, but two events associated with the best kind of apple beverage will help you occupy your time.
CrocodileDog Marketing – the folks behind Yorktoberfest and a host of other boozy events – are hosting Hard Pressed: A Jubilation of Cider and Wine at the Lisburn Community Fire Company in Mechanicsburg. Ciders, wines, and music will abound. For full deets and ticket info (it’s pay-what-you-want; how cool is that?), check over here. Weather’s set to be gorgeous, too; grab some friends and some sunscreen and hustle on down.
Meanwhile, maybe just sitting and enjoying some cider and music is just way too hands-off for you. You gotta do something, right? Check out the Hard Cider Run in Biglerville this Saturday. The course starts at Jack’s Hard Cider at 410 Cashtown Road, and there are are 3 waves – one at 9 a.m., one at 10 a.m., and one at 5 p.m.. Cider will be waiting for all participants at the finish line, and runners at all levels of experience are encouraged to participate. Unfortunately, event registration is full up, but there’s nothing saying you can’t observe, right?
