Pop star roundup: New singles from the queens of music

The music gods are smiling upon us. Three of pop’s preeminent superstars have released much-anticipated singles – and all within 24 hours of each other. Meet the next three songs on your party playlist.

M.I.A. – “Go Off”

This track, released first of the three, is the first (official) single for what may be M.I.A.’s final LP, “AIM.” This single was produced by Skrillex and Blaqstarr, and their influences are obvious – there’s an undeniable electro feel to the track, and M.I.A.’s vocals have a heavy cyber feel. Still, it’s very clearly her track – complete with the kind of current, complex, and confident lyrics she’s known for, and highly groovable – definitely a powerful track. Britney Spears (feat. G-Eazy) – “Make Me…”

“Make Me…” feels like a grown-up version of some of Britney’s old releases – summery, sultry, but not necessarily saccharine-sweet, and G-Eazy’s verse adds to the . While she did use bits of a new song, “Private Show,” for a commercial of her eponymous fragrance, “Make Me…” is the first single released in its entirety for the pop star’s as-yet-unnamed ninth studio album, which she announced late last year. No music video yet, but you can listen to the track below:

Katy Perry – “Rise”

The only track that’s not heralding a new album, the Maya Angelou-influenced track builds up to a motivational crescendo about midway through and just keeps going. This soaring track will be featured in NBC’s coverage of the Rio Olympics. Take a listen:
