In many ways, the worlds of craft beer and indie music aren’t all that different. Both are, without much argument, more artistic approaches than their corporate-fueled counterparts. Both involve metric tons of sweat equity, of hard work ethics that will ultimately make or break the venture. And both are, it seems, down for having a good time.
This relationship was on full display on April 2 as The Beer Ace – the craft beer-leaning arm of York’s Ace Distributing – threw a launch party in celebration of its newly inked distribution contract with Petaluma, CA’s Lagunitas Brewing Co. for York, Adams, Franklin and Fulton counties. The party took place at Central Market York (in the same space where the new Kable House Presents concerts are held), pairing a variety of Lagunitas brews available for the sampling – including year-rounds like Little Sumpin’ Sumpin’, IPA and DayTime IPA and seasonals like Cappuccino Stout – with live music from Philly singer-songwriter Ron Gallo and Mercersburg-based Americana rock band The Hello Strangers.
