Now streaming: Bob Ross is on Netflix

As the great man himself often said, “We don’t make mistakes, just happy little accidents.” But if there were such a thing as mistakes… adding his series “Beauty is Everywhere” to Netflix would not be one of them. That’s right. Assuming you’ve exhausted the supply of Bob Ross episodes on YouTube – most from his “Joy of Painting” series – it’s very difficult to get your Ross fix. As of June 1, you can emulate, or just enjoy, the Happy Painter whenever you like – with some new material (or, at least, material that might be new to you).

Ross’s internet celebrity, more than 20 years after his death, is something of an enigma. Maybe it’s his soothing voice. It might be the can-do, eternally optimistic attitude sprinkled with a bit of gallows humor on occasion. Perhaps it’s just the truly spectacular hair. Most likely, it’s a combination of all these factors, coupled with how easy and accessible he makes oil painting seem.

If, somehow, you’ve managed to miss Bob Ross’s influence on the internet and the hearts of Americans everywhere, check out an episode from his “Joy of Painting” series below. Bonus: it’s a beach scene. (If you can’t live it, paint it.)
