It would be a stretch to say that Dr. Dog has been slipping recently, but it’s hard for any band to sustain themselves for eight albums. Their last, 2013’s B-Room, seemed to waver back and forth between the great (“Love,” “The Truth”) and the nigh unlistenable (“Too Weak To Ramble”). I’m happy to report that first impressions favor this album well, as most of the songs immediately latch onto your memory. Dr. Dog reached back into their archives and gave their oldest songs a new coat of paint and in doing so, bridged the gap between their polished current selves and weird, psychedelic past. Thanks to NPR, we can now hear the whole thing. Check it out below and go see them when they play their next hometown show at The Fillmore March 17.
