Three picks for what to do in Central PA on Monday, June 15.
1) The Royal Tenenbaums Showing at Zoetropolis (Lancaster)
Zoetropolis‘s awesome Wes Fest – where they screen Wes Anderson’s fabulous full-length films for free – marches on tonight at 7 p.m. Tonight, be sure to catch The Royal Tenenbaums (which we here at Fly ranked in the top three in our personal estimation of Anderson’s films.) Gene Hackman and Anjelica Huston play two incredibly successful parents of three former child prodigies who, in adulthood, find more dysfunction than success. Ben Stiller, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Luke Wilson – among many others – join this star-studded cast; Alec Baldwin even narrates the film. This dramedy is absolutely not to be missed.
2) Barcrawler Karaoke and Service Industry Night at 551 West (Lancaster)
Dust off your Dion and brush up your Beatles: it’s Karaoke Night in Lancaster City. Be sure to hit up 551 West this evening in your quest for singalong stardom. They’ve recently opened a carry-out bottle section, so if you’d like to take the party home, nobody’s stopping you. (Just… maybe keep it down at home. We don’t judge you for your secret aspirations towards following in Beyonce’s footsteps, but your neighbors don’t need to know.)
3) Red Rose City Cocktail Wars at the Brickyard (Lancaster)
We are pleased and thoroughly hype to present to you the Red Rose City Cocktail Wars. Tonight at the Brickyard, from 6 – 9 p.m., the public are invited to influence the outcome of one of the fiercest battles on the planet… or, well, at least the city. Attendees to the Cocktail Wars are invited to try upwards of twenty cocktails created by the most mixologically talented minds in the city. Votes from attendees will determine the champion cocktail. Tickets are $15 at the door.
