Lydia Loveless, James Taylor & more: Thursday Night Music

While it’s still a day away from the weekend, tonight’s Central PA music offerings are more like a Saturday than usual. Here are three bets for the best shows tonight.

1) Lydia Loveless at Stage on Herr (Harrisburg)

When I interviewed Lydia Loveless back in November, she was wrapping up the tail-end of her Somewhere Else tour, performing the songs from her breakout LP on Bloodshot Records. Now she’s getting ready to go back into the studio and also film a documentary, Who is Lydia Loveless?, with filmmaker Gorman Bechard. Catch her tonight at Stage on Herr at 8 p.m. Tickets are $12.

2) Hinder at the Chameleon Club (Lancaster)

Midwest rock band Hinder was inducted into the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame in 2007 – not to bad to be honored alongside the likes of Woody Guthrie, Wanda Jackson and Kings of Leon. They play at the Chameleon Club, along with Full Devil Jacket and Diamante, at 7 p.m. Tickets are $22.

3) James Taylor at the GIANT Center (Hershey)

I recently heard a crazy story about the time James Taylor played at Franklin & Marshall College in the early ’70s, which apparently featured a host of illegal substances and a near riot in the crowd. Taylor kicked the habit long ago, and now he brings some of the most beloved folk rock tunes to Hershey at 8 p.m. Tickets range between $42.85-$102.85.
