Look Ahead: The dinner and drinks edition

Whew. That weekend went quick, didn’t it? (And don’t they all?) This week in Central PA, there’s a plethora of events that are dinner- or drinks-focused. In fact, a lot of them are both. All of these shindigs require advance reservation, so get out those calendars and start making those plans.

Beer Dinner with Lost Abbey Brewing Company at the General Sutter Inn (Lititz), July 27

This beer dinner features the brews of Port Brewing Co./Lost Abbey Brewing Company. Meet-and-greet begins at 5:30 p.m. on Monday with dinner starting at 6 p.m., and the full menu includes four courses. How does a baby arugula salad with toasted pine nuts, smoked cheddar, and lemon vinaigrette paired with the light-bodied witbier Lost Abbey Witch’s Wit sound? Yeah, thought so. And that’s just the first course. This dinner is $35 plus taxes and gratuity, and it’s booking quick. Ring ’em up at 717-626-2115 to reserve your seat.

Wine and Food Pairing Dinner at note. (Harrisburg), July 27

Maybe Monday puts you in more of a vino mood. That’s fine – note. has you covered. They’ve got a 6:30-9 p.m. dinner with wine and food pairings selected specifically to please your palate. Their five-course menu includes roasted quail, angel food cake, rock shrimp, and more. Reservations are $95 per seat, which includes your tax and gratuity. There’s only 30 spots available. FETISH* Prix Fixe Dinner at Pour (Lancaster), July 29

Bartender extraordinaire Lee Noble and Chef Anthony of POUR have concocted a five-course beer pairing dinner. The beers in question are from Lancaster’s own truly inspired Fetish Brewing Company. There are three seatings – one at 6 p.m., one at 6:45 p.m., and one at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $60; to book, call POUR at 717-290-8080. A few of the courses include a sea scallop ceviche paired with Gestalt Fetish, a peach tart paired with Kolsch Fetish, and some sockeye salmon paired with Submissive Fetish.

John Wright Restaurant Cigar Dinner (Wrightsville), July 30

The John Wright Restaurant is hosting a cigar dinner this Thursday. Spots are scarce, but if you call them quick at 717-252-0416, you just might manage to snag a spots. This particular cigar dinner features food that’s modeled after Moroccan cuisine. Reservations are $50 without cigar and $60 with.

If they’re out of seats by the time you call, there are four more cigar dinners this year. Pick one (or a couple), put ’em on your calendar and wait for word.

Kickboxing and Cocktails at Next Step Performance and the Millworks (Harrisburg), August 1

Look, you’ve probably heard of beer and yoga by now. You may even have heard of Crossfit at wineries. But how about kickboxing and cocktails? Harrisburg Young Professionals is teaming with new gym Next Step Performance and The Millworks to offer one hell of a workout. Participants will enjoy an hour-long kickboxing and ab workout led by instructor Hanan. Following that, there’ll be an afterparty at The Millworks – and your $35 registration includes two cocktails at that fine establishment. Talk about detox/retox. (FYI – Class size is only 15 people, and registration closes on July 29.)
