Lancaster Roots & Blues: Tommy Z

Our excitement has been growing for months as Rich Ruoff – the director of The Lancaster Roots and Blues Festival – has slowly revealed the lineup for the February 26-28 music festival in downtown Lancaster. Roots and Blues – now in its third year – features more than 70 local and nationally touring bands. With so many bands to check out in three days, you obviously won’t be able to catch them all, but over the next couple weeks, we’ll be highlighting a few bands you should make sure to see. And don’t forget to check out our Roots & Blues Spotify playlist, also below.

Tommy Z

After bringing his own brand of blues worldwide, Tommy Z is coming to Lancaster with a new chart-topping album to boot. Tommy just released “Blizzard of Blues” which is currently in the Top 10 Blues charts on iTunes. On his new album, Tommy does most of the writing across a wide variety of blues: balladry, bar jams and more bawdy tunes. Tommy Z has opened for and played with some of the biggest names in the genre from B.B. King to Blues Traveler and everyone in between.

Tommy Z is playing Sunday February 28 at Tellus360 from 1 pm to 2:15 pm.

Kevin Stairiker is a features writer for Fly. He is a graduate of Temple University and enjoys writing in third person. When he isn't writing, he's probably playing guitar for a litany of bands, reading comics or providing well-needed muscle at The Double Deuce.
