Lancaster Roots & Blues: Center Road

Our excitement has been growing for months as Rich Ruoff – the director of The Lancaster Roots and Blues Festival – has slowly revealed the lineup for the February 26-28 music festival in downtown Lancaster. Roots and Blues – now in its third year – features more than 70 local and nationally touring bands. The festival is this weekend, so there’s no better time to get acquainted with some of the artists.

Center Road

Easily the youngest band playing the festival, Center Road haven’t been around for a long time but they make up for lost time with impeccable musicianship. The five-piece have been recording their debut album at fellow Roots & Blues-er Quentin Jones’ Lanark Records. Supplementing their original songs are choice covers like “Ain’t No Sunshine” and “Valerie.” Their original tunes lean towards the blues/rock side, and the dual-lead vocals of James Duncan and Maia Garber pack a punch.

Center Road will be playing at the Chameleon Club on Saturday afternoon from 3:30 p.m. to 4:45 p.m.

Kevin Stairiker is a features writer for Fly. He is a graduate of Temple University and enjoys writing in third person. When he isn't writing, he's probably playing guitar for a litany of bands, reading comics or providing well-needed muscle at The Double Deuce.
