ICYMI: 'Weird Al' Yankovic tapped as new bandleader of 'Comedy Bang! Bang!'

Coming off of arguably his biggest year ever with the release of his (and the) first ever number one comedy album Mandatory Fun, “Weird Al” Yankovic is set to takeover as bandleader on IFC’s “Comedy Bang! Bang!” Yankovic will be taking over for Kid Cudi, who’s run ended in December after 20 episodes. Prior to that, Reggie Watts had been host Scott Aukerman’s co-pilot of the irreverent comedy for the first three seasons before leaving to become the new bandleader of “The Late Late Show.”

“If you would have told me, when I was a teenager, listening and laughing along to Al’s In 3-D album, that one day I would partner up with him, I would have asked who you were and how you got in my room. Then I would have politely shown you the door. Because that’s how I was raised,” said Aukerman in a statement regarding the new hire.

Yankovic has appeared on the show and podcast numerous times, check out an example of the absurdity the pair share together below.

Kevin Stairiker is a features writer for Fly. He is a graduate of Temple University and enjoys writing in third person. When he isn't writing, he's probably playing guitar for a litany of bands, reading comics or providing well-needed muscle at The Double Deuce.
