Allegro’s new Strasburg Winery celebrates its grand opening
Strasburg has long been a tourist destination with people flocking to the small historic town to see Amish culture, shop at local produce stands, or to enjoy an ice cream cone at the Strasburg Creamery. Now there is another reason to visit Strasburg. On July 5, Allegro Winery – York County’s largest winery – opened its first Lancaster County location called the Strasburg Winery at 11 West Main Street, next to the the Strasburg Creamery.
This weekend the Strasburg Winery holds a grand opening event featuring free wine tastings and live music The winery carries more than two dozen varieties of Allegro wines, plus four special edition wines that are exclusively available at the Strasburg location, as well as Dutch Slushies – frozen wine drinks served in souvenir Mason jars. On Friday, the winery – open daily from 11 a.m.-7 p.m. – kicks off the weekend long celebration by extending its hours until 9 p.m. with live music starting at 7 p.m.
Tamanend Winery offers tastings and bottles at the Raise the Rafters Concert
In case you still need a reason to visit Strasburg, the Raise the Rafters Concert – taking place on Saturday from 3-8 p.m. – should seal the deal. Tamanend Winery offers tastings as well as bottles to purchase during the benefit concert featuring food and live music by Ghost Light Radio Show and more.
The Vineyard at Hershey hosts Decked Out Live
Toast to the summer with wine and live music at the Vineyard at Hershey’s Decked Out Live concert series with Mountain Road this Friday from 6-10 p.m.
Wine and dine with live music at Cassel Vineyards
Spend a perfect Friday evening at Cassel Vineyards in Hershey for its Music in the Vines night on Friday from 6-8:30 p.m. Joe Cooney performs live music and a dinner of barbecue ribs, baked beans and mac and cheese is served by Kuppy’s Diner of Middletown. Admission to the event is free, but dinner requires a donation benefitting local organizations including Mountainside Pet Rescue, the Hershey Band Booster and the Hershey Cub Scout Troop.
“Old State” at Spring Gate
Penn State football is right around the corner. Fans can get in a preseason tailgate warmup this Saturday from 12-11 p.m. with the “Old State” at Spring Gate PSU Rally Wine and Beer Festival featuring blueberry cider, blue wine slushies, an appearance by Jay Paterno and a performance by the Penn State Alumni Pep band at Spring Gate Vineyard in Harrisburg. WE ARE….getting thirsty.

Celebrate Buddy Boy Winery’s gold medal
Buddy Boy Winery recently announced that its Chardonnay won a gold medal and its Darkside Merlot claimed a bronze medal at the Riverside International wine competition that took place in California earlier this summer.
