Hard Pressed: Craft cider festival announced for August

The cat’s out of the bag. Craft cider is a trend on the rise these days, claiming tap handles and brewfest tables left and right. Heck, there are even cider bars opening up – like Wassail in New York City – dedicated solely to showcasing the sweet, tart and dry adult apple juice.

It was only a matter of time, then, before a craft cider-focused festival emerged. And that day came yesterday, as Crocodile Dog Marketing – the guys behind events like Hibrewnation, Taste of PA Wine & Music Festival and Yorktoberfest – announced the debut of Hard Pressed: A Jubilation of Cider and Wine on August 22. The event will take place at the Lisburn Community Fire Company (1800 Main St., Mechanicsburg) and will feature “a wide array of PA Ciders and Wines while enjoying local food and live music.” The event poster features logos from Big Hill Ciderworks (Gardners), Broad Mountain Vineyard (Elizabethville), Wyndridge Farm (Dallastown), 6 Mile Cellars (Erie) and Bee Kind Winery (Clearfield).

Best of all? Tickets are available on a “pay what you want” basis. According to the ticketing page, a ticket costs you whatever you want to donate, however they are limited, must be purchased online and only one ticket is allowed to be purchased per transaction (although there’s no limit on how many orders you place).

Tickets go on sale on June 22 at 10 a.m. You can RSVP on the Facebook event page in the meantime to stay in the loop on more information as it becomes available.
