Happy birthday, Urban Churn (and everyone else)

It’s customary to receive gifts for your birthday, but some people just insist upon giving.

A very hearty congratulations to Adam Brackbill and all the folks at Urban Churn. For a year now, the Harrisburg-area creamery has been bringing the Midtown area and beyond old-fashioned ice cream in newfangled flavors, including bacon-infused, strawberry basil mojito, double chocolate milk stout, and a host of other wild and wonderful concoctions. That’s right – Urban Churn is celebrating its first anniversary, and they’re spreading the birthday love with Free Scoop Day. From 6-8 p.m. outside Midtown Cinema, you’ll be able to get one large scoop of Urban Churn’s ice cream for free. How awesome is that? (Of course, lots of other things are going on in and around the Midtown area – Zeroday’s hosting their weekly Lip Synch Fight Club, the It’s All Greek to You food truck will be in that vicinity, etc. – but come on. Free ice cream.)

With this festive air, maybe the ice cream-eating public will get lucky and Urban Churn will release some kind of first anniversary flavor. Might we suggest birthday cake martini?
