Friday Night's Concert Picks

Looking for some live music to brighten up a dreary Friday evening? Look no further. Here are our recommendations for tonight’s must-see shows.

Aaron Daniel Gaul

He often performs under the moniker ADG and is bound by no genre. Aaron Daniel Gaul serves up a healthy mix of imaginative covers and grounded original music. He brings 25 years of performance experience to the stage with him, along with a little newfangled loop artistry that enables him to create complicated sounds onstage, even as a solo act. Check out the show at the Holy Hound in York at 9 p.m. More info.

Hoots and Hellmouth

Entering their eighth year of existence, Hoots and Hellmouth bring the same passionate, all-out, makes-you-want-to-sing-along soul that’s made a name for them in times past. They often incorporate call-and-response into their grooves, taking each other and the audience to church. And tonight, church takes place at the Abbey Bar in Harrisburg at 9 p.m. More info.

The Demon Rum

The Demon Rum plays the Chameleon in Lancaster tonight at 8 p.m. Read more on the band here. More info.

You might remember Yarn – they’re the Grammy-nominated Americana roots rockers behind songs like “Liquor Love” and “Hey Darlin’.” Their most recent album, Shine the Light On, even had tracks co-written with the help of John Oates (yes, that John Oates, the one whose surname is often preceded by “Hall.”) Talk about street cred. Check them out at Tellus360 in Lancaster at 8 p.m. More info.

The Dirty Sweet

The funky fresh folks of The Dirty Sweet are, at this point, Harrisburg circuit regulars. If you haven’t seen them yet, here’s the Sparknotes version: they blend spunkiness and soul in order to bring their very own spin to all kinds of hits, from ‘60 classics to the modern day Top 40. Come prepared to boogie at the River City Blues Club in Harrisburg. More info.
