Three picks for what to do in Central PA on Friday, August 28.
1) Silent Disco on the Roof with Aortic Valve at Tellus360 (Lancaster)
What do you get when you put headphones, a rooftop, two innovative teams, and some music together? Tonight’s silent disco at Tellus360 with Aortic Valve, of course. There will be two sessions – one from 7-9:45 p.m. and one from 10 p.m.-1 a.m. There’s a $15 cover. If you need more info on what, exactly, a silent disco is, check here.
2) Ferris Bueller’s Day Off at Midtown Cinema (Harrisburg)
There’s nothing like an outdoor movie to kick off the weekend. Midtown Cinema knows this, and they’re gifting the greater Central PA area with an outdoor showing of one of the greatest back-to-school movies known to mankind: “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.” It’s free, and they’re showing it at dusk. Get there earlier for a killer end-of-summer block party with food trucks and live music.
3) First Day of Yorkfest (York)
Okay, so maybe there’s one more thing that’s super end-of-summer: an arts festival – what’s not to love about music, food, and art of all stripes? Tonight’s the opening reception for a juried art exhibition that’s part of Yorkfest – an arts festival in downtown York that runs all weekend long. The reception’s at the Agricultural & Industrial Museum, but Yorkfest itself will be all around downtown. For full deets, mosey over here.
