Friday 3 on 3: Rob Base, Christmas in July, & Labyrinth

Three picks for what to do in Central PA on Thursday, July 23.

1) Christmas in July: Rob Base at Sawyer’s (Harrisburg)

Just in case you thought all these fauxliday events weren’t enough, Sawyer’s is getting in on all the Christmas in July action. As a gift from them to you, Rob Base of “It Takes Two” fame will be performing tonight at 8:30p.m. Of course, it wouldn’t be a gift if it weren’t free… which, by the way, it is. To get you in the mood, here’s Rob Base and DJ E-Z Rock (may he rest in peace) in their original music video for “It Takes Two”:

2) Beer Geek Christmas in July at Hunger-N-Thirst (Lancaster)

At this rate someone’s going to have to put out a craft beer themed Christmas in July album. Tonight at 5p.m., Beer Geek is kicking off a day and a half of fabulous festivities with an awesome lineup of brews. We were kind enough to collect the full deets over here, so check it.

3) “Labyrinth” Showing at Midtown Cinema

This evening at dusk, Midtown Cinema is bringing you a cinematic classic and huge nostalgia bomb all rolled up into one. As part of their Outdoor Film series, they’re showing “Labyrinth” for free in their very own parking lot. This film features Jennifer Connelly as Sarah, an intrepid young teen who accidentally summons Jareth the Goblin King, played by David Bowie, to kidnap her little brother. Shenanigans ensue as Sarah has to rescue the little sprout by navigating the vast labyrinth in Jareth’s kingdom. Want more? You don’t have to wait ’til 3 p.m. to check out FLY’s live music, bar entertainment and performing arts calendars.
