Three picks for what to do in Central PA on Friday, August 14.
1) Homespun Happy Hour at Thistle Finch Distillery (Lancaster)
Who doesn’t like to kick off the weekend with a little meet-and-greet with their neighbors – and friendly neighborhood distillers? From 6-8:30 p.m. tonight, enjoy Homespun Happy Hour with the folks at Thistle Finch Distillery and from the Homespun Lancaster event planning collective alike. Hear what’s going on with Homespun, gnosh on some appetizers, chat with your fellow Lancastrians, and a special announcement (we hear it’s gonna be big.) Oh, and, you know, enjoy Thistle Finch’s wonderful wares – there’ll be a drink special.
2) Down in Front! takes on “The Killer Shrews” at Midtown Cinema (Harrisburg)
Comedy troupe Down in Front! is taking on yet another so-bad-it’s-good movie tonight a 9:30 p.m. Watch as an intrepid ship captain stumbles upon a scientist’s well-meaning but sinister experiments. Giant, hungry, ridiculous-looking shrews overrun a hurricane-wracked island. Tickets are $5. Mayhem ensues. Get there a little early to pick up something from nearby Zeroday – as the event page says, you’ll need it.
3) Delta Blue Trio at Battlefield Brew Works (Gettysburg)
If you like to start off your weekend with a little blues and some brews, you have somewhere to be this evening. York’s own Delta Blue Trio will be playing the Battlefield Brew Works (248 Hunterstown Road) in Gettysburg this evening from 7-10 p.m. Vocalist Keith Kailian, bassist Andrew Nayler, and harmonica player Dane Paul Russell join together to bring their acoustic roots blues brand of tune to life.
