31 Days of Decks in Central PA
Airport bars have long served to help calm the nerves of the flight-averse, offer a quick respite for the weary traveler and provide some entertainment to lighten moods for those bogged down by the stress of TSA security, checked baggage, departure gates and boarding times. Although Fiorentino’s is nestled in the Lancaster Airport in Lititz, simply calling it an airport bar is not only unfair, it’s just plain old wrong.
First off, there’s an overwhelming likelihood that the diners and bargoers in the seats are not waiting on connecting flights; they arrived in their cars and are there for dinner and drinks. Or, more than likely since the weather has turned – to relax on The Flight Deck.
While many a restaurant features outdoor seating, none of them can boast a front-row seat to an airport runway like the aptly named Flight Deck. The partially covered patio accommodates 100 with seating for 80, offering ample space to dive into one of Fiorentino’s famed pizzas, nachos and pasta.
The fully stocked bar has half a dozen brews on tap, but we’d recommend taking a walk on the chilly side and ordering up a frozen drinks to combat the summer heat. Or, tonight, take advantage of a $5 Orange Crush. (See Fiorentino’s full list of bar specials and weekend live entertainment schedule here.)
And with half-price happy hour held every day from 4-6 p.m., The Flight Deck is a no-brainer option for unwinding from the work day, especially if you count yourself among the crowd that crawls north on Lititz Pike during rush hour. Do yourself a favor and turn onto Airport Road and let that traffic figure itself out with a beer in hand, a big sky above and a perfect view of the setting sun.
