Day 12: Summer brews

31 Days of Decks in Central PA

Day 12

We know we give a lot of attention to craft beer in our reporting, but it’s for good reason. First off, the Central PA region is home to some 40+ craft beer producers, and that number is steadily growing. Moreover, the consumer community is gigantic, impassioned and, also, steadily growing. Trust us when we say we love us a finely crafted cocktail and tasty glass of wine, too. And we’ll get to them soon enough…

Anyway, back to beers. With the changing of the seasons comes also the release of a new batch of seasonal beers. Summer brews, generally speaking, are easy sippers, crafted with relaxation in mind. While beers like Victory’s Summer Love and Tröegs Sunshine Pils take somewhat hoppy approach, be on the lookout for a variety of wits and wheats featuring orange peel, lemon zest and other fruity notes. Kölsch’s are a great, crisp summertime beer option as well.

And if you’re not the craft beer type, then there ain’t nothing wrong with a cold Corona dolled up with a fresh lime wedge.
