After releasing his album “Night Surfer” in September of last year, it was pretty clear that Chuck Prophet had solidified his sound. That sound is not so much preachy as devastatingly clear-eyed, and it’s all rock and roll, with a dash of warped country on the side. Critics differ on exactly who to compare him to – Leonard Cohen? Ray Davies? – but they can agree on one thing: he’s pretty good. That’ll happen if you keep at one thing for over twenty years.
XPN is welcoming Chuck Prophet tonight at the Herr Street Stage. He’ll be supported by Camela Widad, who fuses Nashville vocal vibes with gentle guitar work. Her most recent release, the album “Warriors of Love,” came out last year.
Tickets are $15. The doors open at 7 p.m., and the music starts rolling at 8:30 p.m.
