This year’s running of Restaurant Week York is themed “It’s about the food.” This is more than just an obvious statement – restaurants, after all, serve food – but is instead a call to culinary arms for the participating chefs to think outside the box and craft up a special menu like none other.
Looking over the #RWYork menus on the event’s website, it’s evident that the challenge was accepted. The variety of prix-fixe multi-course menus showcase a variety of twists on familiar dishes like pizzas and burgers with some exciting ingredients and taste combinations. While many of the 29 participating restaurants have put a large focus on dinner, we’re excited to see how many lunch options also exist, essentially doubling the number of meals you can nom over the course of the week.
Restaurant Week York doesn’t officially kick off until Saturday (February 21), but there are a few “celebrity” bartending nights happening this week to not only get you in the mood for #RWYork, but also help raise some money for York City Special Events:
• Wednesday: David Satterlee and Will Guntrum will be behind the bar at Roosevelt Tavern from 5-7 p.m.
• Thursday: Meagan Feeser and Sean Kenny will be pulling pints at Liquid Hero Brewery from 5-7 p.m.
• Saturday: Feeser and Philip Given will be at White Rose Bar and Grill from 2-5 p.m.
Start getting hungry. This year’s #RWYork is not only the biggest restaurant week for the White Rose City, but it also has the makings of being the most delicious one yet.
