Brewersfest, Sour & Stinky, Sweetest Pint & more on tap

Another weekend, another batch of craft beer events for the region…

This isn’t a bad thing, by any means. With nearly 50 breweries of various scales operating in the region, it makes complete sense that the craft beer community would have multiple outlets to gather, converse and tipple. (Ok, drink. But dammit – tipple is a great word…)

Today brings with it a wide spectrum of such events happening all across Central PA. So charge up the cell phone – these beers ain’t gonna check themselves into Untappd.

*******

Harrisburg Brewersfest (downtown Harrisburg)

Now in its 12th year, the annual Brewersfest has long stood as not only a quality beer festival, but also a hallmark example of drinking for a good cause. To date, the event has helped raise upwards of a million dollars for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation of Central PA. If that’s not something to raise a pint to – or, if you go, a small tasting glass – we don’t know what is. Brewersfest features two sessions – 12-3:30 p.m. and 5:30-8 p.m. – for sampling 70+ brews from nearly 50 breweries. Click here for tickets and more info.

Sour & Stinky Fest at The Fridge (Lancaster)

If you’re not a hardcore craft beer enthustiast, you may find this event’s name to be, well, less-than-appetizing. But for the gose-heads and sour-suckers out there, the 3rd annual Sour & Stinky Fest is a dream come true, with funky pairings of sour beers and bold cheeses. The pungent, pucker-inducing action gets underway at 11 a.m. You can bet there will be a line.

Sweetest Pint Beer & Berries Tasting Tour (York)

The Sweetest Pint tour started as a once-a-year event in February pairing craft brews and decadent chocolate treats. But due to overwhelming growth, the second leg has been added, this time taking a different sweet turn and focusing on berries. It’s going down from 2-6 p.m. at various venues in downtown York. Only a few tickets remain, so claim yours while you can… Click here for tickets and more info.

Intangible Ales Juxtapose Bottle Release at Al’s of Hampden (Enola)

You thought with all that sweet talk that we were done with the sour? You thought wrong. Intangible Ales celebrates the release of its tart, fruity and funky farmhouse ale Juxtapose in 750 mL bottles from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at Al’s of Hampden. If you’re not familiar with this beer, or with Intangible Ales, we ask you just trust us on this one. This will be a highly-demanded brew; don’t be surprised if supplies wear thin before noon.

Midsummer Nights Fest at Gunpowder Falls (New Freedom)

The 2nd annual event brings back live music, food and some solid German-style brews to New Freedom. Stop by Gunpowder Falls starting at 3 p.m. for the festivities.
