It’s not exactly a secret to anyone that Central PA has a booming craft beer market at the moment. Interest in the smaller side of the brew industry has skyrocketed in the past five years. You can’t go to a bottle shop without seeing the cooler stocked with rows and rows of wares from local craft brewers.
Harrisburg, in particular, is host to a thriving craft beer scene. And now, they have their very own documentary to prove it. Nate Kresge of Sara Bozich of brew-related fame and ‘Burg-based production company GK Visual (you may note that, together, this dynamic duo creates and produces “What’s on Tap?”) have joined forces to create a full-length documentary about the Harrisburg brewing industry. Folks like Chris and John Trogner from Tröegs, Artie Tafoya from Appalachian Brewing Company, and Megan Moore from Victory Brewing were interviewed, as well as beer bloggers and even a lawmaker – Rep. Patty Kim of the 103rd District – to examine the craft beer scene in Harrisburg.
This gem premiered this April during Harrisburg Beer Week 2015 to a super receptive audience. If you didn’t get the chance to catch it then, you can see it now – there’s a screening and discussion of “Brewed in the Burg” at Tellus360 tonight at 7 p.m. There’s no cover and a bevy of beverage-focused perks to incentivize your undivided attention. If you arrive before the 7 p.m. curtain call, you can grab some $4 craft brew drafts in Tellus’s bar. Wear a local craft brewery’s t-shirt and receive some Tröegs merch for your trouble. There’s even going to be a firkin throwdown. For full deets, mosey over here.
