The cinematic rockers of Beauty Pill are back in a big way. This spring, they released their second-ever full-length album, “Beauty Pill Describes Things As They Are,” to accolades from critics operating under the auspices of places like NPR.
In recent years, creative experimentation has been the name of Beauty Pill’s game, and they’ve incorporated electronica and hip-hop influences that weren’t as pronounced in their earlier sound. Much of this new experimentation resulted from band leader Chad Clark’s battle with viral cardiomyopathy (tl;dr: an actual tear in his heart) and the subsequent recovery period, which rendered him unable to hold traditional instruments and, as a result, had him turning to digital methods of making music.
He’s recovered now, and the band appears to have bounced back with him. Check out “Dog With Rabbit in Mouth, Unharmed” off of their newest album:
If you dig, you’re in luck. Tonight, the night of October 12, they are performing at the Harrisburg Midtown Arts Center. Tickets are $8. The show starts at 8 p.m. (And, hey, if you stick around, Barcrawler Karaoke starts at 9 p.m. Think of it as a double feature!)
