I was told we probably don't want to dive into the deep, dark regions of the band's birthname, Willie Dikker. The only innocent explanation given was that the name personifies the foursome's desire to "just have fun."

Drummer Rich Kelley says the band members have been doing the band "thing" for a long time (and as Willie Dikker for three years) and emphasizes that their goal on-stage is to, simply, have fun ... and "remain sober." "We're sick and tired of bands taking themselves so seriously," says Kelley. "When it gets to the point that you're no longer having fun, you have no business being up there."

So what does Willie Dikker do differently? "We jump around a lot," laughs Kelley. "... We laugh. We laugh at ourselves and the crowd sees that we have fun." Kelley says York-based Willie Dikker is mainly a cover band, mixing up everything from Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, and Molly Hatchet to Limp Bizkit and Creed - with even a poppy Rick Springfield single stirred into the brew. Plus, the guys cover songs other bands "won't touch," like tunes from Jackyl and Crocus for example.

Joining Kelley in the band are Andy Giknis on lead guitar and lead vocals, Willie on lead vocals, and Terry Rinehart on bass.
