A St. Patrick's playlist for those who don't like Irish music

Irish music isn’t all tin whistles, bagpipes and bodhrans, you know… In fact, there’s a wide spectrum of fantastic music coming off the Emerald Isle that, save an occasional accent bleeding through, doesn’t sound a bit “Irish” at all. We’ve skipped the obvious bands (Sorry U2 and Van Morrison. The Cranberries made it, though.) and are instead focusing on bands like Dublin-based indie rockers Little Green Cars, the pop-dance-groove duo Tieranniesaur and singer-songwriter James Vincent McMorrow.

Listen to our mix of Ireland-based up-and-comers and heavy-hitters that are currently making waves around the country (and Northern Ireland). Hat-tip Irish music blog nialler9 for, well, existing and providing lists like this for a quick crash-course in what’s hot across the pond.

Thanks, Eric. It was a treat to research. There’s some really interesting stuff coming out of Ireland these days. Little Green Cars is a personal favorite at the moment…
