Whether you live in Harrisburg or are just visiting, Broad Street Market is one place you must see to properly experience the city. The market – located at North Third and Verbeke streets (just three blocks north of the Capitol Complex) – is open on Thursdays and Fridays from 7 a.m.- 5 p.m. and Saturdays 7 a.m.-4 p.m.
The Broad Street Market is one of the most vibrant places in the city, as well as one of its most historic. Last year, Broad Street Market celebrated its 150th anniversary. At its peak in the 1920’s the market had more than 700 vendors.
Today, the market is in the middle of a resurgence as recent renovations were made to the buildings and new vendors are constantly being added to its roster. In fact, the market was recently recognized by the Hershey Harrisburg Regional Visitors Bureau for its efforts to keep the city fresh and new. The Broad Street Market boasts a list of nearly 40 vendors including JB Kelly Seafood Connection, Smucker’s Chicken and Peach Ridge Produce. Last summer, the market introduced the Farmers at Broad (FAB), a producer-only outdoor market with live music, which returned this year on May 16 and runs every Saturday through October 17.
Come see for yourself how one of the oldest markets in the area is keeping things fresh.
