A month of wine (pace yourself...)

November is for wine drinkers.


Did you know Pennsylvania ranks fifth in the nation in grapes grown and seventh in wine production? If you’ve been wanting to learn more about Pennsylvania wine, November is a great time to do it. From progressive wine trail events to delicious wine pairing dinners, this month plays host to a variety of ways to sip your way into a more intimate familiarity with the more than 40 wineries that call Central PA home. Might as well pick up a few early Christmas presents while you’re out there, too…


Hershey Harrisburg Wine Country’s Cornucopia Wine Quest

November 1 & 2
Celebrate the harvest and tour fourteen regional wineries with a different activity at each location.

General Sutter wine dinner

November 2
The historic General Sutter Inn in Lititz hosts a five-course wine dinner with Waltz Vineyards on November 2 at 5 p.m. The dinner costs $65 per person.

Susquehanna Heartland’s Nouveau event

November 8, 9, 15 & 16
The Susquehanna Heartland Wine Trail features 13 wineries from Harrisburg to State College, Williamsport and Hegins. Sample fresh and fruity nouveau wine at each winery.

Wine Just Off The Vine wine trail

November 8, 9, 15 & 16
Sample nouveau wine and go behind the scenes to learn about the wine making process at 20 different wineries plus two distilleries and a cidery.

Wine & cheese pairing cruise

November 9
Set sail with the Pride of the Susquehanna in Harrisburg for a wine and cheese tasting featuring Hogue Winery – Washington State’s fourth largest winery – on November 9 at 6 p.m.

Tamanend Winery winemaker dinner

November 14
The Lancaster-based winery hosts a five-course dinner featuring select wines including Pumpkin Spice, a sparkling Meade and its signature wine, American Beauty.

Taste of the Valley

November 14
The sixth annual Taste of the Valley event takes place on November 14 from 7-10 p.m. at the Arthur Hufnagel Public Library in Glen Rock. Sample wine from Allegro, Jackson Square and Logan’s View and enjoy live music and an art display/auction.

Raid Golden Sheaf’s cellar

November 14 & 15
The Golden Sheaf located inside the Harrisburg Hilton is closing after more than 20 years, but the good news is they are inviting customers to “Raid Our Wine Cellar” on November 14 and 15. Select wine is available for purchase at just $10 above cost. The wine list is available on the restaurant’s website.

Naylor Wine Cellars wine dinner

November 15 & 16
Naylor Wine Cellars hosts “A Taste of Home” wine dinner featuring a homestyle Thanksgiving meal paired with select Naylor wines. Naylor also hosts a party celebrating the release of its Shiraz on November 21 and a wine and chocolate pairing event featuring gourmet truffles and select wine on November 23.

Nissley Vineyard’s Days of Wine and Chocolate

November 15, 16, 22 & 23
Sample Nissley wines specially selected to be paired with chocolate or select your own wine and create your own pairings.

Beaujolais wine tasting at Pour

November 19
Discover the classic wines of Domaine Piron, Beaujolais, France at Pour Wine & Beer Bar in downtown Lancaster. The event runs 6-8 p.m. and is $30 per person.

Adams County Winery holiday wine pairing dinner

November 22
Adams County Winery’s Holiday Food and Wine Pairing dinner takes place on November 22 from 5-7 p.m. The dinner includes five small plates paired with both a red and white wine. A discussion of how to pair wine with holiday meals takes place during the meal.
