2016 Roots Picnic to include Usher, Future and more

The Roots Picnic always promises big names and this, the festival’s ninth year is no different. Taking the “Blank backed up by The Roots” spot of the year is Usher, and this writer cannot wait for full band versions of jams like “Burn,” “Climax” and “Confessions Pt. II” to echo out into the Festival Pier.

Elsewhere on the artist list is an array of performers ranging from producers like Blood Orange and Swizz Beatz to current needle-pushers like Future and Leon Bridges. Expect surprises, dancing and lots of sultry grooves.

Further big guns were brought out in the form of Abbi Jacobson and Ilana Glazer of “Broad City” to premiere the lineup. Tickets go on sale this Friday. Watch the reveal below and check out some of the performers as well.

Kevin Stairiker is a features writer for Fly. He is a graduate of Temple University and enjoys writing in third person. When he isn't writing, he's probably playing guitar for a litany of bands, reading comics or providing well-needed muscle at The Double Deuce.
