Fifteen years ago today, princess of pop and musical visionary Aaliyah, and members of her video crew, died tragically when their plane crashed shortly after takeoff. They had been filming the video for her single “Rock the Boat” in the Bahamas.
Though she was only 22 years old, she monumentally transformed the music industry and left a lasting imprint on the fashion world. She had more successful collaborations with superstars like Timbaland and Missy Elliot than many artists manage in a full lifetime. She was rapidly establishing her status as a triple threat with the advent of her second film credit in “Queen of the Damned” as the eponymous vampire Queen Akasha.
